Pepper & Me Club app
Effective 21 August 2026. Last updated 24 August 2026.

Pepper & Me Limited runs the Pepper & Me Club app. This page explains what information the app collects about you, what we do with it, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to what's described here.

What we collect

When you create an account we ask for an email address, a password and a display name. As you use the app, it stores the things you make in it: your favourites, meal plans, shopping lists, recipe ratings and reviews, and your conversations with the Chef AI assistant. If you set dietary preferences, we keep those too. When you contact support or send feedback through the app, we get whatever you write, along with any screenshots you attach.

The app also collects some information automatically. We record the type of device you're using, its operating system version and, if you turn on notifications, a push notification token. We keep records of how the app gets used, like which screens and features people spend time in, and we receive crash reports and error logs when something breaks. Usage records and crash reports are tied to your account, since that's how we work out what's going wrong for whom.

What we use it for

Your information lets the app do its job: signing you in, showing your recipes and meal plans on all your devices, running your subscription and answering your Chef AI questions. We also use it to fix bugs, to see which features are worth improving, to reply when you contact us, and to send notifications you've asked for. Sometimes the law requires us to keep or use certain records, and we do what it requires.

We don't sell your information and there's no advertising in the app.

Where it lives and who sees it

Your recipe cache, settings and chat history sit on your own device. Your account and the content you create are stored on our servers so they can follow you between devices. Some of the companies that help us run the app process data in other countries, and where that happens we make sure your information gets the same level of protection it would here.

Payments are handled by Apple or Google, depending on your phone. We never see your card details. Beyond that, we share information only with the services that keep the app running, such as our subscription, analytics, crash reporting and hosting providers. They get what they need to do their job and nothing more, and they're required to protect it to the same standard we do. We would also disclose information if a court or the law properly required it, and if the business were ever sold, your information would go with it under this same policy.

Security

Everything the app sends travels over encrypted connections. Passwords are stored securely, and access to personal information inside our team is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and will act quickly if a problem comes up.

Your choices

You can see and change your profile details in the app. Notifications can be switched off in the app's notification preferences or in your phone settings. If you'd like a copy of the information we hold about you, or want something corrected, email us and we'll sort it out.

Deleting your account

Go to Profile, then Delete Account. This permanently removes your account from our servers along with your favourites, meal plans, shopping lists, cook history and profile, and wipes the app's data from your device. There's no undo.

One important thing: deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Apple and Google manage subscriptions themselves, so cancel there first if you want to stop being billed. On iPhone that's Settings, your name, Subscriptions. On Android it's Google Play, Subscriptions.

You can also email us and ask us to delete your information. In some cases the law requires us to keep limited records, and where it does, we keep only what's required.

Children

The app isn't intended for children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their information. If we discover we have, we'll delete it.

How long we keep things

We keep your information while you have an account. After you delete your account, it's removed as described above, apart from anything we're legally required to hold on to.

New Zealand privacy law

We're a New Zealand company and we handle personal information under the Privacy Act 2020. If you think we've got something wrong, please tell us first so we can fix it. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Changes

If we change this policy in any meaningful way, we'll say so in the app. The current version always lives at this page.
